Stuart Redler: Kruger

Kruger National Park, located in Northeastern South Africa, spans 7,580 square miles and stretches 220 miles from top to bottom. It is home to an incredible array of wildlife, 147 mammal species including the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. The park also supports over 500 bird species and a variety of reptiles, amphibians, and insects.
In addition to its conservation role, Kruger is a hub for scientific research on biodiversity, climate change, and wildlife health. These studies help inform global conservation efforts, ensuring the sustainability of the park’s rich ecosystems and endangered species.
